This is my sweet Halena. She is my oldest child, and we were in need of a little one on one time. So, with school only one week away, we decided that we would head out for some lunch and a little back to school shopping at the nearby outlet mall...just the two of us. The above picture is Halena sitting outside the store we had just come from. You see, apparently when you are almost 8, it is a bit embarrassing for your mother to be whipping out her camera and asking for you to flash your best smile while you are shopping. Really...it starts that early? Oh well, I cherish our time together, because with three kiddos to take care of, one on one time with any of them is pretty scarce. My sweet girl has had a rough go of it lately, and today was good for both of us.
These next two pictures are when we were all done shopping. Here again...outside the stores. She is sporting her new hat, which I just adore. All in all it was some great mother/daughter time. And, if you promise not to tell any of Halena's friends, I'll let you in on a little secret...she even held my hand while were walking back to the car...ahhh...it does a mother's heart good...
And, I can not end this post without sending out an enormous thank you to everyone who has been praying for me and my family! Truly, from the bottom of my heart, thank you, thank you, thank you...the kind and caring comments you left on my last post really do make the healing process a little bit easier...

Hello dear Tracey... your daughter Halena is adorable in her new hat! I am so happy you had some one on one time with her...Still keeping you and your family in my prayers... Julie Marie
She's a doll!! Love her hat! My daughter is 12 and so far it appears she doesn't get embarrassed, but she doesn't want me listening to phone conversations (I remember feeling like that too). It's great you had some one on one time. Thinking of you and your family!
What I have learned in the last year especially, they grow up so quickly. Ughh, She is precious how fun you two got to have alone time,it is often needed. Emily and I had a few shopping outings and lunch before school started this year too. I Love her hat by the way, make her look a bit older.. sorry mom..Jamie
hand holding...definately one of my most favorites.

you know we love her;-)
here is to the school countdown!
I have a plan to do that individually with each of my girls too. I don't get any alone time with them either. Great idea!
She looks adorable in her hat. My daughters would love it:)
Awww, she is so adorable!!! Sounds like a really fun day! My 9 year old will on a rare occasion still reach for my hand. It melts my heart!
What a special time for the two of you...I love that she held your hand back to the car...and that you took time for just her..those are memories she will remember!
AND, she looks so stinkin' cute in that hat! :)
Hi Tracey, I haven't been blogging for a few days so I'm sooo sorry for your loss. It's never easy to lose someone who is so special to you! I pray that God continues to comfort your heart.
On another note: what a darling girl and what a cute hat! I have an 8 yr old as well.
What a fun day for the two of you! Glad you had such a special time! They do grow up fast! traci
Loving the new hat and how wonderful that you had some mother/daughter time together!
Hi Tracey,
That sounds like the perfect day to me. Great company and shopping. Your daughter is darling and eight is such a wonderful age. Now my daughters are grown and we still love shopping together. Some things never change, thank goodness. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Hugs,
June
