Here are a few, VERY RANDOM, things I learned this weekend...
I am bored with almost all of my magazine subscriptions. Is is just me, or are the magazines all getting thinner and the ads getting more numerous? I can find more inspiration and decorating ideas off of the internet, and the many amazing blogs that I read, than I can from any of my magazines (with the exception of my beloved Jeanne d' Arc Living magazine...still loving that one).

French Brie might taste good, but it is just too stinky to serve at a party (trust me on this one girls)!
If you want to make your own burlap table runner, cut your fabric outside, or your dining room will be covered in a haze of burlap dust.
If you buy a container of chocolate covered almonds from Trader Joe and think that you will only eat one or two pieces, you're fooling yourself! (these are dangerously good)
Allowing a 2 year old to play with a ball outside, will ALWAYS result in the ball rolling into the street, so don't even try to sit down and relax.
And lastly, I learned that after having 3 kids, I should stop asking the sales woman to bring me both the size 8 1/2 and size 9 shoe to try on, because as much as I want to, I just don't fit into an 8 1/2 anymore (why must our feet get larger after having children?)!
I told you they were random...
Our weather is glorious here in the Midwest, hope yours is too! Enjoy what's left of your weekend!!!

What a fun and pretty post! I definitely know what you mean about the magazines! I have stacks and stacks which I've yet to read.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
: )

T - I was JUST going to post about this...tonight! I am waiting for the passengers to get off the plane right now, and I had to comment. I am so glad you're a blogger in my life, I share so many of your passions, and you're one of the best reasons I'm letting a LOT of my magazine subscriptions run out.
Happy weekend to you! Xoxo
I adore your words of wisdom today and your images..so lovely...I was just looking at that Country Living Magazine that they came from and was thinking to myself how I so want her home! But you are so right about magazines..I hardly buy any any more and believe me that is soooooo unlike me...plus all the good ones have gone. I get my fix from all my blogging freinds....like you!
I know Trader Joes almonds are so so yummy...I learned that lesson long ago!
Happy week to you...our weather is crazy...it is back to the summers hot hot heat...all I want is Fall weather.
I'm LOADS older than you as my children are all grown up and one is married and it has taken me up until a few years ago that I only get one or two ideas from magazines so, I only buy one now and, as everyone has said, I find more inspirationn from my wonderful blogging friends. Your first two pictures are from my favourite interior shop...Swedish Interior Design here in the U.K. ...gorgeous... and all of your other images are so on my wavelength.....lovely. XXXX
I agree so much with the bit about the magazines. It seems they come in the mail and I breeze through them in 5 minutes. So many ads. So many ideas online that I too have let many of my subscriptions fade away. Plus, so much wasted paper.
Ha, and burlap sure does make a mess. Like a big mess. I've had a yard, folded up on my office floor, waiting for a project. My kitty, Belle, loves to lay on it. Sometimes choosing the burlap over the comfy futon.
Oh what a truthful post! I miss Cottage Living sooo much! But, I do like getting ideas and drool worthy photos from fellow bloggers. And I too found out the hard way about the burlap!
Have a great day!
SMiles!
Michelle
Tracey,
This post had me laughing!
I was just on Etsy looking for a burlap table runner! I thought to myself, I could do this, now I now, cut it outside!
All the magazines are getting smaller or just going away!
Thanks for the tip about the Brie and I can so relate to the ball going in the street or at my house over the fence in the neighbor's yard every five seconds!
Ugh! I know, I still want to fit in my 6 1/2's but now its a 7 sometimes 7 1/2!
Glad you're having great weather. It's rainy here, but lucky me, my hubby cooked a big pot of gumbo! Yummy!
xo,
Adrienne
great thoughts, gorgeous photos!
Love this post! And for what it's worth I have had the exact same thoughts about my now-size-9 feet. I still have it in my head that I'm an 8.5, but my blisters tell me otherwise...and I've never given birth! Sheesh.
Oh, I also totally agree about the mags. Boo.
Hello Tracey... I love random thoughts... chocolate almonds are my favorite! And yes, the magazines are hardly worth the money these days... I still love Romantic Country, Romantic Homes, Dovetales and MaryJanes Farm...and of course Jeanne d' Arc... Bisous... Julie Marie
Hey Tracey,
I love it when I smile through a whole post. If it makes you feel better, I was an 8.5 before children, went to a nine during and after having children, and now I'm back to 8.5. Weird!
I'm so disenchanted with magazines too. Some are just repeating the same old pictures as well. You are so right that they are thinner and full of ads. So sad for a mgazine junkie like me.
Hugs,
June
i just love random truths! thank you for sharing...and making me giggle, too:)
mary
Sounds like you and Kasey should stay away from Trader Joe's. Just too dangerous;)
Love all your gorgeous pics. Just dreamy. Hope you have a great Monday. I feel a cold or something coming on. Oh I pray not!
I know what you mean about the magazines...they all seem to be nothing but ads anymore!
Randomness makes me smile! Great pics, too!
hahahah. you made me laugh. i needed that tonight!!
um, and those photos? wish i lived in them :)
Hi Tracey,
What a beautiful post, it made me smile.
I am with you there in the shoe sizing as I always used to be a 6 1/2 and now I seem to be a 7 or 7 1/2.
Brie and gorgonzola can be stinky cheeses and it does permeate all throughout the house.
Most of the magazines are thinner and seem to show the same photos, you can see more pretty things on other blogs, as you said.
I love the pretty white photos you have shared.
Enjoy your week
Hugs
Carolyn
great tips tracey!
i'm right there with you on the now size 9 shoes...feel like a circus clown sometimes :)
have a great week~
chasity
and my word verification started with skis...wow...now i'm getting a complex!
What beautiful and funny post! I love it! I also agree about the lack of good magazines! Thanks for the nice comment about my necklaces.
smiles, alice
Omigosh, those thoughts might be random, but I was absolutely nodding vigorously in recognition of all you've said! Get out of my head! ;-)
Thank you doe the tip on IKEA curtains for my booth!
XOXO,
~ Anne
So cute! I agree about all the magazines...I am really thankful for incredible blogs too. Hope you had a great weekend!!
What a pretty blog you have and I just loved this post- thanks for making me smile!
yes...those damn magazines.
hope you at least had a fun weekend.
xo
i know what you mean about the magazines, even my favorite has fallen short the last couple of issues. i love your inspiration pictures makes me want to redo some rooms in my house! i love your random facts, i can relate. have a nice week :)
What a cute post. Thanks for making me smile.
I KNOW! I had to dig out a few of my old ones last night that I saved to get inspiration!! I SOOOOO miss Home Companion magazine. It was my fav! Have a great Monday!
I just came over form Olive Rue and realized you were another IL girl! I wanted to say hello!
funny funny!! and really like your images you put into the post -
any of your home? all of your home?
amazing nonetheless......
I'll have to try those almonds!
My husband would love it if I would get tired of the magazines! So true about anything chocolate! Just a 9 shoe? Girl, I was in a 9 or 9 and a half, but after having my Amelia I went to get running shoes and my left foot needed a 10! Just the left foot! Have a great day!
Cute post! And I'd have to agree on the shoe thing...like us girls don't have enough things going haywire while we're pregnant...now are feet are the size of boats.
amen on the mags!
amen on larger shoe sizes corresponding with more childbearing
amen on chocolate
amen on the yummy foods that make your home smell funny ( as i type this i just finished my baged with smoked salmon which i LOVE but now my house smells funny)
xo
Great post, random but true, gorgeous photos!!
p.s. my feet didn't grow, oh don't hate me!
I also learned this weekend that I am becoming more and more of a procrastinator when it comes to housework! I'd much rather be outside enjoying the sunshine and Autumn air, browsing an antique market/shop, flipping through a magazine {yes, there are more ads and fewer great articles} or reading interesting, creative blogs, like yours. I'll just sneak a few more chores on hubby's to-do list...lol! He's great at washing sheets and towels {not so great at folding};and uses those strong arms to power through the vacuuming! Now where are those chocolates?
You have a knack for finding the most amazing photos! I totaling agree about the magazine thing! I was forced to spend my weekend on the sofa and like you was completely dismayed with my stack of decor magazines...I too love Jeanne d' Arc living and can't wait for new one to be delivered! blessings..dj
Some good facts to know...thanks for sharing:) My shoe size increased a 1/2 size when I was pregnant; don't remember reading about that in any of the books!
Thanks for these lovely images...and your observations are right on!
annie
I agree magazines are not what they used to be. It's so sad that some of my favs have gone bye-bye.
Funny and beautiful post!
Hi Tracey, just added you to my blog roll. I love all the images on todays post...have lots of catching up to do with your other posts. For what it's worth...my midwife enlightened me as to why our feet "grow" after childbirth. Apparently the length of our feet corresponds to the width of our pelvis so after 9 months (or so!) of stretching it makes sense that our feet would be longer. I'm a little worried about my 12 year old daughter whose feet are already size 8 and she's not done growing yet, she has already outgrown my size 7's.
Ange
I miss magazines! miss, miss miss them! Thankfully we have beautiful blogs to look at instead!
Trace - I had to come back and see the sources of your pics - I'm so in love, and I can't wait to see MORE of these. I love your eye.
Thank you for being MY magazine subscription. But better...(and less quizzes!)
xoxo
Yes to all it! I thought it was just me and the magazines...
(my foot went up a whole size after having my son)
We've had wonderful weather here for the past few weeks too. Finally :)
yes, we are having glorious weather arent we. love it!!! i love random posts. wonderful way to get to know someone. i went from a 9 to a 9 1/2. it's weird. have a great day tracey!!
Good morning from Canada....may I just say I am gobsmacked at the stunning beauty of your blog!!! Love it all, going back now for more, thanks I needed this inspiration today! All the best,Chrissy
Such a cute post Tracy. We just got a Trader Joe's here (about 35 minutes from me) and I made my first trip there last week. Whoa! What fun! Love the pizza dough!
Completely enjoyed the random bits you shared!
I learned that lesson with chocolate covered pretzels the last time I had a soiree. I slaughtered most of them before the guests got there. Ah ha
Oh my goodness, I LOVE those photos. I agree with you on the inspiration side of thing. The internet is a much better source...plus it is free which is even better. Thank you so much for sharing. I may steal some of those inspirations for my house.
HI Tracey
Unfortunately I have never seen the Jeanne D'arc magazine in person.. We do get many US and International magazines here but have never see Jeanne D'arc except on the internet. Funny and true magazines have lost some appeal since I've been blogging. Is it interior overloads? xx Julie
Too, too, funny :). I am with you on the shoes. I never heard of anyone else complaining about it; but, I swear my feet grew! Jeanne D'arc Living? Really?? I just started getting Country Living after a few years of not getting it and I'm not impressed. How I miss Cottage Living and Country Home.
Tracey - You are spot on about the magazines...very disappointing. Not only are they smaller but the content isn't as good! Thanks to those like you who post beautiful pics...I can still get my fix for lovely photos. As for the shoes....yep...me too! I hope all is well with you...may happiness fill your day!
Hi Tracey - Thank you for leaving such a lovely comment on my blog. I love getting feedback. Leigh
very funny- very random- and very true! Ah, my poor feet thankfully didn't grow, but then again, they're already a 9. Have a good week.
While *hopping* around, I found your blog ~ it's lovely! Can I just say uh~huh to everything you mentioned! The photos are dreamy ~ if only my home looked the same.
Jo
What a fabulous post! I loved your words and your divine photos!
This is what I learned today...I LOVE YOUR BLOG! Adding you to my blog roll pronto!
Hugs,
Karyn

how long to do spend blog hopping ?
Hi Tracy, I'm so glad you came by. You have a gorgeous blog, and I just love your post on "random things"! I agree some of the best magazines are gone and others are not quite up to the level they used to be.
I just joined you as a follower. Hope you'll come back by for a visit soon. I'm posting the rest of the photos on Inspirational Home thurs. or friday.
Have a great week.
Debra
I enjoyed your post a pictures Tracey!

LuLu
Hi Tracey,
I love your blog! You are right about the mags, they are not as good as they were a few years ago! Alot of the magazines I had subscriptions to are no longer being pulished. Lucky for me I have collected all of the "best" issues of my favorites for the past 10 years!
Thanks for the beautiful pictures!
Gretchen
I just found your blog and really enjoy it! I miss my magazines that are no longer published. I ended up discovering the decorating blogs as a result of boring or absent magazines.
