White dish obsession

Well hello start of the week!!! And hello to you my friends :) I was gone this past weekend, hanging out with my bestie, Natasha, down in Bloomington. She only lives about 2 hours from me (althought she will be moving back to Denver soon...boo hoo), but we don't get to see one another nearly as often as we would like...life just seems to get in the way!

This past weekend we really wanted to hit the last Third Sunday Market of the season. This is quite a large flea market and well worth going to, but we just hadn't been able to manage to make it since May. So instead of waking up at the crack of dawn and driving down there to meet her on Sunday, I went down on Saturday and we were able to have a fabulous dinner together and some much needed leisurely conversation time.

I didn't make any major purchases, but I did add some more ironstone dishes to my collection, and these adorable vintage salt shakers...

I have been buying white dishes all Summer. Every flea market I went to, I would pick up a piece or two, because...well...it's just more fun when you are on the hunt for a new collection!

I'm just loving the look of stacked white dishes right now...

So simple yet so pretty...

...with bits of vintage touches and silver thrown in...

So I thought I would "practice" a little with my camera, while showing you my current obsession...hope you enjoyed a peek into a corner of my dining room...

Anything new you are collecting...do share?!!

Tracey

I just started this also. I have a white platter from years ago and recently got a beautiful tureen. Now I am constantly looking for more to actually have a collection.

Great photos!

Hi Tracey... ooh your white dishes are just beautiful! And I love your vintage shakers... I collect so many things...lately I have been trying to find more beautiful salt cellars... I have about twenty really old ones, they are getting harder and harder to come by so I am thrilled when I find a pretty one... and the little vintage salt spoons are next to impossible to find... I want the real thing, not reproductions! Happy collecting! Bisous... Julie Marie

Hi Tracey,
I'm loving all your white dishes, they're all so pretty. Love that last photo with the spoons, it's darling. Right now I'm collecting vintage french molds (tins) and definitely running out of room. Have a great week!

I love that white iron stone too, I just realized my obsession with it, comes from my childhood, when my grandma used to work at a dinner. I would go and stay with her and she would get me up real early and just tell me I could sleep in the car and when I woke up I was to come into the dinner and have breakfast, which usually was hot oatmeal and toast. Now I understand my fascination with the ironstone. I have a huge collection of the white pitchers. Have a great week. Florence

Hi Tracey,
Love you collection going on. Isn't it fun to have something to look for at flea markets, antique shops and the like?

My obsession is with all things Acorns, and I did a post on it a while back. Another things I love is red transfer wear.

My Mom has always had white dishes, so it's a soft spot for me too, although I have cream one that I enjoy with my fall colors here at Acorn Cottage.

*LOVE* yuo photography and all your goodies. I think you might need to be doing photos for some major magazines as a second career options! :)

Smiles, Nancy

I love your white plates! Nothing like a stack of good finds. Your photography, by the way, is amazing too.

I collect children's books. Always have. I just bought two this morning to give to Jonny for Christmas. They are from the author of Owen and Mzee. True stories of inspiring animals. I am going to write about these books later today. One's about a dog and the other a dolphin. {His two favorite animals}

I think it's why I'm obsessed with the movie You've Got Mail. I could live in the Shop Around the Corner.

Tracey,
Wow I guess I am surprised that there are still any whiteware dishes still out there, cause it looks like at least everyone here is a collector of whitware!! I have them stacked everywhere in my kitchen. I have some at the shop too, many for months. Unbelieveable.. they haven't sold well there, so I told myself that if they didn't sell this month I was going to bring them home...guess what! Almost all sold this past sale...crazy!

I love the little jewels sparkling on the plates with the vintage spoon at the end. Perfection. And time with an old friend is the best of best times. As for collecting, I'm obsessed with vintage cameras right now. It was old spoons before that. And glass glass cloches before that. It never seems to end. Our house will eventually explode, in other words. :)

Hi again Tracey, I have always had white dishes, white everything and just recently found a whole ton of pretty ironstone salad size plates at the Goodwill. Boy oh boy, did I jump on those babies. They make great dessert dishes too. I have always liked food served on plain white dishes. When we have company I like to use charger plates in different colors to spice up the table. I have some black chargers on my Santa list. :)

Tracey, I love your collection of white dishes...I trully meant to ignore this post of yours for fear it would start me on another collection lol but no such luck...once I looked at the first picture I had to look at them all! :)I think all the white dishes look so pretty and elegant..at this moment I seem to be collecting everything...but I am really drawn to old baby clothes and shoes at this moment...and old dolls, old hats with flowers..although my luck with that has been about nill :) ohh lets face it...I am a collector of Sumptuous castoffs :) or treasures as I preffer to call them. besos, Rose
