A New Year...and a giveaway...

Hello...I do hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas!!!  We had a beautiful Christmas with the warmth of family and the knowledge that we are truly blessed!  I can not say thank you enough to all of you who left me such kind comments about praying for my husband and our family during this first Christmas without my father-in-law...my heart swells with gratitude and love for your kindness...thank you from the bottom of my heart!

I have been a little absent from blogging lately...with the bustle of Christmas and all, as I'm sure many of you have been as well.  This week my husband is taking the week off from work...for a little relaxation and family time...and, much to his dismay, to get a few projects checked off of the "Tracey to do list"  :) :) :)  So I will probably be somewhat absent from blogging again this week...

But, because I like you girls soooooo much...and to ring in the new year with a little extra happiness...I'm hosting a giveaway!!!

Leave me a comment on this post, by Sunday, January 3rd at midnight...and you will be entered to win one pair of gorgeous linen curtains from my SHOP...your choice of either the "Vantorre" curtains, or the "Aliment" curtains...after all, who couldn't use a little French goodness to start out the new year??!

I'd love to hear about your favorite Christmas gift...mine was the set of vintage hat pins that my mom presented to me in a lovely little box...they were my great, great grandmother's!!!  Isn't that so cool??!  I guess I have become quite nostalgic over the years...and I am in love with these pins...

...the one with the large champagne colord pearl is my favorite...

Hopefully I'll be back next week with a few projects to share...until then, have a safe, fun, and blessed New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

{image 1and 2: Jeanne d' Arc, image 3and 4: me!}

Note:  the next issue of the Jeanne d' Arc Living magazine will be up on my website for pre-order on January 1st, and in stock by the 15th of January.

Merry, merry Christmas! What a wonderful treat and just in time for the New Year. My favorite gift of all was the arrival of my family from Michigan on Christmas day ~ it just doesn't get any better.

Tracey,
Your hat pins are priceless...to think that they were your great great grandmothers!! What a wonderful gift.
My favorite gift was from my teenage son. He really gets me!! He went to the Vintage Market and bought me a vintage picture frame with a fabulous picture of a turn of the century woman and three silver sugar bowls that he knew I would love. The fact that he understands my love of all things vintage was the best gift of all.

SO glad you had a Merry Christmas, though a difficult one. The hatpin collection is lovely - and even more so because they belonged to your grandmother, how wonderfully thoughtful of your mother.
Enjoy week with your husband as you ring a fabulous New Year together!

Oh I would LOVE to be entered in this giveaway!!

One of my favorite Christmas gifts was an ornament my husband secretly had made for me of a photo of my daughter's tatoo... Its a beautiful sparrow with the bible verse Luke 12 verses 6-7:

"Are not 5 sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don't be afraid - you are worth more than many sparrows."

He had a necklace made with the same picture for her, which I knew about, but when he handed me a box containing the ornament with the matching picture... I just sobbed.

She's missions-bound in life, we think, so she will not always be around, but rather off in some other part of the world. I knew the moment I saw that ornament that it was going to one day be my "lifeline" to her, when she isn't physically here in years to come.

So... that is probably my most treasured gift this year. :)

Glad to hear from you again, Tracey!!

My favorite gift this year was bought in a German Christmas market ... a beautiful three-tiered German Nativity Pyramid. I LOVE it and have wanted one for as long as I can remember.

You have my deepest sympathy ... the first holiday season without a loved one is always the hardest. May this new year be filled with warm memories and happiness!

You know how much I adore your blog, and YOU, right? Prizes or no prizes, I'd be here, day in, day out.

Oh! And I absolutely have to tell you how thrilled I am with the ornaments I ordered from you! And you lil' stinker, you snuck in an extra one for me. Thank you sooooo much! I'm going to have those beauties out and displayed year round.

And the packaging was just over-the-top dreamy, too. You set the bar really, really high for us sellers out there.

I suppose my fave gift was the Fiona & Twig tote bag my mom gave me. Your hat pins are incredible. LOL, we could never go junking together, because the exact same pin is my favorite, too. ;-)

Love ya!

Oh Tracey, how generous your are! I was blessed with many gifts, each of my children chose from their hearts and they were very personal, but, I'd have to say the gift that made me scream was a pretty little bumble bee magnet made of recycled metal and adorned with a vintage crown, from my two grandsons, they have always called me Honey, instead of Grandma...they grew up hearing my husband call me, Hon. So what else did they think my name was? Enjoy your time with your husband,

Lots of Hugs, Lisa

I, too, know the pain you feel at the loss of your loved one and the first Christmas without him. I lost my Dad in October and I've shed many tears this Christmas season. But we(and you)will meet again and joy will replace all the sadness! Jesus will wipe every tear from our eyes! Now that's something to look forward to!
My favorite gift was a surprise from my aunt. She had loaned the same book to my mom before my Dad died and it brought comfort and peace at a difficult time. It is a Hallmark gift book, Footprints by Margaret Fishback Powers. It was completely unexpected and SO thoughtful.
And please...
I would love to be entered in your beautiful and generous giveaway! Those curtains are FAB!
I'll keep my fingers crossed!

What a beautiful giveaway Tracey! Glad to hear you are having a great Christmas week. Those pins are gorgeous! I have two favorite gifts this year. One is a photo album my husband had printed of our vacation this summer - what he wrote in the album about our trip had me in tears. And the second was a huge pepper mill my mom bought me (I did ask her for one just never thought she would find one so big!) - mostly because of the laughs the whole family had over the size of it!
Have a Happy New Year and enjoy the rest of the week with your family.

I just love it when someone gets such a sweet thoughtful gift. My favorite gift was given to me last year by my three beautiful daughters... they searched for three old clocks that I could set to each of their birth times, those clocks now sit on my bedside table and they bring me such joy each morning. It's just a small reminder of how much each daughter, all now in their 20's means to me. This year my middle daughter found an old 1st grade reader, tattered and torn, to tuck into my stocking, what a sweet little treasure. I'm so enjoying reading everyone's comments. Thanks for sharing your hat pins with us.

And New Year Happies to you and yours, too, Tracey! This certainly is a delightful giveaway - one that I would be honored to win. My favorite Christmas gift? Well, we didn't do our typical gift exchange this year. In that light, I guess rather than my fave being something tangible, I'll go with two things ... my daughter lives close enough that the two families could be together and the second fave is that my mother and father are reunited once again. My mother died at Christmastime three years ago and my father died this year on Thanksgiving. In that three year span, my father was so lonely and sad - all he wanted was to be with "his Babe" ... his wish came true and that makes me happy, bittersweet as it is.

I love these curtains so much. I hope I win because otherwise I will begin trying to hand-craft a set and I'm sure it won't be pretty.

My favorite Christmas gift was a trampoline when I was 9. It snowed on Christmas morning (which NEVER happens in the south) and when we jumped, the snow flew into the air around us. About a month later I became incredibly sick with a kidney malfunction that almost killed me... for months while I laid in a hospital bed I fantasized about jumping on that trampoline again. I think it's what got me through the illness unscathed! To this day I remember that Christmas morning when I see a trampoline!

Greetings Tracey,
I did not receive any vintage gifts this year, but some of my favorite gifts have been passed down, and when the time is right I will pass them on to my daughter Rosemary. The best gifts are the surprises, and I did get lots of them, (my husband was not suppose to buy me anything). One of the things he got me is a fold up shovel. I have a thing for wild plants that I find along the road...and I never have anything with me to dig with!
Please put my name in the hat, I would adore something new and french!
Happy New year!

I'm glad your Christmas was gentle... I remember those first Christmases I had without my Mom and Dad; I remember my Mom the first Christmas she hosted after *her* Mom left us. It's a beautiful yet tough time of year...

My favourite Christmas present was something my Daughter and SIL made for me: a beautiful silhouette of their two Sons, my GrandSons (ages 4 and 2). The cut-outs are on pale blue paper and framed in a lovely driftwood colour. Now I have a constant reminder of how they were, Christmas 2009.

I hope you have a Happy 2010 and that the year brings you much joy and success!

I've been MIA too but that's allowed at Christmas, isn't it? :)
I can't really choose a favorite Christmas gift because my Mom made every effort to spoil my husband and I...and we were spoiled. She bought everything on our wish list. My parents goal was to spoil us as parents. She invested money into our sons college savings account (he's almost 2) and chose to celebrate us for all of the hard work we do, the ways we put our son before us, and the choices we make to sacrifice for him.
This was a tough Christmas season for my husband and I emotionally and my parents truly lifted us up and showed us the spirit of love, grace, and giving.
I'm so blessed!

As with many families this year, we scaled back on the presents for each other, concentrating on the kids and focusing on being together as a family (my husband deploys soon). Imagine my surprise when my best present came while my 7 year old was pulling things out of his stocking and squealed with delight "Mom, this is TOO MUCH!" I almost melted right then and there.

What a glorious giveaway.... I suppose I would have to say my favorite gift actually came on Christmas Eve in NYC. It has been a very hard year for me..emotional, stressful.. very void..and after over 14 years... I went into the city...and smiled. But not just smiled, laughed, enjoyed the comfort zone of being with someone who wants to be with YOU. One who LISTENS to you..one who CARES about you.. one you can just 'BE" with..even without words.. after years of eggshells and tears... that just "BEING" was priceless.

Smiles...

I feel the same way you do about blogging. Our blogging friends are like no other. Always there for us, always listening and always, always caring and coming back with kind words and warm wishes. I love blogging and I'll never stop. I am also excited to see what you are going to bringing us this new year, I can't wait.
Cat is so excited and wrote the sweetest post about your giveaway.

I think the best gift that I received this Christmas is that my only son is healthy and in remission still from cancer and crohns disease. He is my life and I am so thankful that God is letting me keep him. He gave me a Christmas card and wrote the sweetest things that only a Mom can adore. For that I am thankful.

Happy New Year to you and keep sharing your wonderful blog with all of us.

Hi Tracey!
I am so glad you had a special Christmas.
I too have been feeling very blessed of late.
To have such a loving, caring husband who found my hearts desire...without asking!
Yes, that is the greatest gift I could have been given. No matter how humble the gift itself...that he thought enough of me to figure it out and have it for me on Christmas morning.

You are so precious!!!...another great giveaway!!!
I have secretly admired these panels since you first showed them in your wonderful store.
I hope you have a blessed New Year.
We too are off for a bit to work on our "big house" project.
Hope you enjoy the time as much as I know I will.

it was my year to work chirstmas eve AND christmas day.
i worked a few of her shifts as a trade!!
when i found out our church was going to do their christmas eve service at a huge venue here in atlanta i knew i MUST attend.
it was incredible.
i shared that evening with 8,000 others! i know it probably sounds cold & impersonal, but the evening was so beautiful & truely a worshipful event for my family.

Tracey,
Such a lovely gift from your mom, the hatpins are beautiful. The warmth of family pulling together during the first Christmas without your father-in-law is the LOVE that blessed you all. HIS love was binding you all close to HIM and the memories that you all have will forever remain in your hearts.
My "special" gift was seeing my youngest grandchild take those first two steps without holding anything. The surprise on his precious little face was awesome. His mom, dad, brothers and Terry and I were all in the room when Dylan let go of daddy's chair and stepped once, twice, huge eyes wide, then fell down and laughed. He was clearly enchanted with himself. Enjoy the rest of the week with your hubby. Happy New Year Tracey. May the Lord richly bless you as you have blessed me in the short time I have known you.

Want to wish you and your family a Happy and blessed New Year with much love and prosperity. I know what it is like to lose a loved one and how especially hard it can be on holidays.

My wish is that all of you dwell on the many wonderful things you loved about your father-in-law and know that it is always hardest for those left behind. I am sure your father-in-law is watching from a place that we can only dream about but will one day be ourselves.

I received a beautiful black key from Tiffany's made of titanium from my husband. Simply gorgeous! That was my favorite gift.

Your Majesty,

I am just in love with your gift of the pins that belonged to your grandmother. What a treasure to pass on to a daughter or granddaughter. Gorgeous images and article. I have 2 favorite gifts this christmas, the first is a necklace given to me by a customer of mine that is now one of my best friends, Sherry from Oregon. It is a rectangular glass that encases my initial "D" that was embroidered on an oval piece of linen I think back in the 19th century, from Switzerland. And the other is an Autographed book from Claudia Strasser from The Paris Apartment! I love these two gifts!!

Happy New Year!

Hi Tracey!

Those curtains would look fabulous with my bottle drying rack!

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas with your family. We never got to talk at Kasey's but...my husband's father died unexpectedly (and young)almost 10 years ago. Those first holidays were terribly hard..but now we find ways, especially with our children who were too young to remember him to honor his memory and share tidbits about him. While those first years were terribly sad, it has gotten easier to not just remember the day he died but all the days he lived!

Oh, and my favorite Christmas gift was from my hubby and kids...a new pocket sized digital camera to carry in my purse - to never be without in case I find something I must share on my blog, of course!

Happy New Year to you.
