Phew, I made it to Thursday...it's been a busy week so far! Yesterday I had a friend over for lunch. She came after I dropped my son off at preschool, and while my 2 yr old was napping, so it was one of those rare times when I could actually focus on the conversation and enjoy myself, without being interrupted by needy and inquisitive children...it was blissful!
I had decided earlier in the week, that I would set up the little old table that I tote all over the house in the living room, in front of the mantle, for us to have our lunch at. It seats two perfectly, and I was able to have a little fun setting it as well. I took my inspiration from the current issue of the Jeanne d' Arc Living magazine and went with a bit of a numbers theme...
Before she came over, I snapped a few pictures to share with you. I rarely have time to set a themed table anymore, with 3 little ones and all, but I do really enjoy the creativity of it...
...linen wrapped gift in petite metal buckets {currently only $1 at Michales}...I added a vintage enamel number tag to the bucket and tied the gift with one of my petite stencils...
...napkin rings made out of a vintage tape measure and finished with a button...simple...
...an old watch face to decorate a candle...
...Jeanne d' Arc suggests using old clock faces as coasters...I photo copied mine onto heavy stock photo paper (that way I didn't have to worry about the back of the clock face ruining my tablecloth)...
And speaking of tablecloth...this one is something I made using my favorite new find...a solid natural linen curtain panel from Target (Home brand)...it's finished nicely on all sides and doesn't look at all like a curtain once on a table...and it's only $19.99 per panel (84" length or 95"). I love these curtain panels, and have used them for several projects lately! All I did was use one of the Cuisine stencils from my shop (you could use any stencil, even make your own), and fabric paint, and applied it right to the curtain panel where I wanted it...the curtains are nice and thick and my paint did not even bleed through...Jeanne d' Arc look, Target price!
It was nice to catch up with a friend, and I had a lot of fun setting the table and taking the pictures too{(my husband doesn't understand how setting a table could be fun, but I know you girls do :) }.
Have a fabulous weekend my friends!!!
Tracey

Gee Tracey I better not let my friend see this. I had her over for lunch yesterday too and I made her eat on a plastic tablecloth that was covering my table to protect it from my creative endeavors! I did make her some fancy eggs though! You've inspired me to have another friend over and take a bit more time with the table setting! Kim

Take care xx Julie
I think table setting is one of the most fun things to do! I love creating settings from things I have around the house and never thought to use. One year I remembered I had lots of cranberry glass in storage and I pulled it out and made a lovely setting for a Valentine's Day lunch. Wish I had taken photos of all my settings!
Have even taken part in some table setting money-raising events. Such fun!
Nothing I like better than picking someone's brain and girl...you got some mighty great pickings! These are all wonderful ideas and I'm pretty sure I'll be stealing, I mean borrowing some (or all) of them for Zapp in the spring. Thanks for taking the time to share all the little tips. It's wonderful that you would share so willingly your creativeness!
Debbie
Oh Tracey! I love these photos!! Just gorgeous setting that you made for you and your friend!!

Hi Tracey,
How lovely to see your beautiful table setting and how neat that you could catch up with your friend.
I love everything you have done and thank you for showing us.
You asked about the script in the side bars, it is actually a blog background from the Graphics Fairy.
Have a very happy weekend
Hugs
Carolyn
Bellisimo! You did a fantastic job with all your creative ideas coming together to make a lovely tablescape! Love all the colors and elements. You better watch out, some magazine is going to find out about you and want to photograph your home, if it hasn't already happened!

Simply gorgeous!
Thank you so much for sharing it with us!...Love it!
Huge hugs from Sweden...
Lovely post- I hope I can find those curtains!! All of our windows are about 6 feet high- just the panes!! I need tons of fabric, and those curtains fit my budget!
So beautiful Tracey!
Love the curtain tip--I have been wanting to make pillows. I'm thinking a trip to Target is in order.
Oh this is awesome! I've never seen a Tablescape like this and I am in love.
Hi Tracey! I love the clock faces for coasters. I would think the ink would run if your really used it for a coaster and it got wet? Maybe you have a laser printer instead of an inkjet? The Target curtain for a tablecloth is a great idea, too! Thank you so much for sharing your affordable and fabulous ideas with us!!!
Michelle
Hi,
I have to leave you another comment. Your blog is so amazing, I can't get off of it. You need to do a design book. Your pictures are beautiful.
Thanks for sharing your talented creativity with all of us!

You are absolutely amazing! I am so glad that I have found your blog. I just told my husband about your table (I think even he was shocked when I told him you have little ones too!) So now I am thinking maybe it is time to invite the girls over for lunch? Keep your fingers crossed that my two year old takes her nap!
