Hello friends!! I was inspired recently by my sweet and talented blog friend LuLu to use the vintage tool box that I have in a different way. Usually it sits out in the garden with flowers or herbs in it for the Summer...a few weeks ago I decided to bring it indoors, give it a good scrubbing, and wait for some inspiration on what exactly to use it for...
So, a few days ago I decided to paint on one of the Jeanne d' Arc garden stencils I had ordered for myself...and then I proceeded to fill the tool box with bits of things that reminded me of gardening or the fact that Spring WILL come, in time...
You see, every year when Christmas is over, and I'm feeling a little blue with all of the excitement over, I turn my attention to gardening...the seed catalogs start rolling in...I begin flipping thru all of my saved copies of Country Gardens...and I dream of my garden! Gardening is a passion for me (like decorating) and in the looooooong bitter cold months of January and February, it is a bright spot that pulls me along with the promise that I will again feel the sun on my face and the earth in my hands...
Isn't that little "paquet" adorable? It came with some little crocus bulbs in it (the ones under the cloche)...I bought it from the very talented Judy during one of my flea market excursions last month.
When we finally take our tree down this weekend, I will move the whole table that the tool box sits on over in front of the window...
What helps to get you thru the long months of Winter?
Wishing all of you a wonderful weekend!!!
Tracey
Oh, and I almost forgot, since so many of you have emailed me, I figured I would just post the paint color I used on Halena's furniture (sorry, I don't know why I didn't just include it in the first place)...it's called Notre Dame by Valspar (Lowe's)...a million thanks for all of your loving comments about her little redo!!! You warm my heart!!!

Just about to leave for work....your photos are simply stunning!!!They look like they are right off the pages of Jeanne D'Arc...hope you have a great day Tracey!!!
Tracey, everything looks gorgeous. My dad has an amazing toolbox that I claimed years ago- but I left it at my mom's. DARN. Thanks for the color name, I just came home with a bunch of valspar cards. I wanted to buy a paint wheel- but the big orange store didna't have any. They are really helpful- my sister has one.
Anyway, I'll email you my paypal stuff. xoxo
I love these tool boxes. I have been seeing them everywhere! I love what you did with yours. Paperwhites are just the prettiest little flowers to get you through the winter months. I can't wait to see your gardens. Mine are in desperate need of some inspiration!
Beautiful Tracey! I love the shape of your cloche! Have a beautiful day today.
Blessings~
As soon as Christmas leaves us, I am always anxious for spring. Sadly we have a long journey ahead. But, I am still smiling and enjoying the snow.. fireside. I love your beautiful idea. I have a couple of tool boxes like this that I have picked up at garage sales, maybe I will put one to use like this.
Blessings,
Shawn
What a great idea. Maybe spring will come earlier if you have all your garden things around! I live in Iowa and we are having another winter storm and so the kids are home from school today. I don't feel that spring is coming to Iowa any time soon! So for now all my ideas of sitting at the computer drinking coffee and blogging are put on hold until tonight.
I just wanted to say I love your daughter's name, how beautiful. I want to move into her room. I also love the Virgin Mary statue. I have a few that I collect. Thank you for sharing.
Megan

Looks very, very lovely. Spring will come. I know it will... but first the snow, snow, snow!
So wonderful! I just love how it all came together! I am impatiently awaiting the spring... maybe I need to spring up the place!
Michelle
I love it! I have a huge tool box like that and needed some inspiration. Thanks.
Sue
I am going right out and get my old tool box! You are really an inspiration! Thanks a bunch!!! It is 25 with wind chill of -13. So I needed a spirt of spring!
smiles, alice
I love this idea. I have one on my kitchen cupboard that was my grandpa's...I fill with with all my cutlery..I have had it for years. I love your stencil. Sending you some sunshine to fill your day...Spring is just around the corner.xoxo
Your tool box is the perfect display! I love how you have used it and all the lovely items you have tucked inside.

Absolutely stunning!!! I think I use those words alot when I visit here;)!!!
You create the most beautiful scenes...so inspiring...love them!!!
The clock faces are my favorite...do you ever sell them?
Have a wonderful day!!!
XOXO
Cathy
Your pics are so pretty. It's hard to be patient this time of year, just waiting for spring!
So lovely as always
Pretty, pretty, pretty.
I enjoy all the seasons-winter gives us time to slow down and do inside stuff that doesn't get done when it's warmer and we are outside.
Enjoy your day.
Melinda
What a wonderful way to reuse your vintage tool box, your revamp is spectacular!
Every visit to your lovely blog is music for my eyes! I just adore your style and your photography is always so fabulous!
You now have me dreaming of my garden and longing for Spring, thank you for the lovely inspiration.
Love and hugs,
Karyn
bring your tool box!
I think you have like the best taste ever! That looks so cute! I would LOVE to see more of your home!!!
Beautiful - what a great idea! I have a friend who collects those trugs and puts books in them, which looks really nice too!!
Love your tool box and everything in it! What do the words on the box translate to in English? I lover Jeanne d' Arc things. I have all the magazines and dream about having that look! Thanks for stopping by!
Beautiful Tracey! Wow ~ I am always so amazed!! Totally love it!!!!! yum yum yum....
Thanks so much for the paint color at the end of your post... you read my mind!
Shellagh
That's so pretty! I have a similar toolbox and you've given me some new ideas for it.
Getting through January and February is a major ordeal for me. I combat the blues by checking out great spas and home spa treatments. It helps my feelings to banish dry, winter skin and absorb the sensory experiences at a spa. I especially enjoy a session in an infrared sauna, because it's so warm and cozy!
It takes tremendous talent to arrange a box like that... I LOVE IT!!!
Since we are home on a snow day today (7 inches) I have a little time. And I went down to the basement to begin making some antique dish collages for Valentine's Day and I spied some bulbs there, just waiting. Your blog inspired me to get out some small cloches, put them in some vases with some aquarium rocks and some water and wait paitently... more patiently than I EVER do for Spring. So THANKS for the inspiration. I needed it.
The best thing about all this snow is that it is like Mother Nature's room redo every time it happens- fresh layers of white cover up all the yuck and it is soo pretty...if only for a couple days.
Wanna escape to Paris with me? I put the info on the business blog, if you can come.
I love tool boxes! I have a school box! love the idea..lulu
Hello Tracey... I love your little vintage toolbox... and I too cannot wait for Spring... I have loved gardening since I was a little girl by my great~grandma's side in her little cottage garden, asking her constant questions, which she so gently answered... all the names of all the flowers...what do they mean... I plant flowers to remember my family who has passed on... gardening is my therapy!... love to you... xoxo Julie Marie
Oh I just love what you did with the toolbox...so pretty! Snow day here {again} and I am beyond "ready for spring":) Can't wait to see flowers in bloom again!
What a neat idea! Very spring-feeling! I guess I take the time in the winter to see what blog friends are doing, planning a garden, have fun ordering seeds, etc. In a couple weeks, I'm going to be spending time in my greenhouse, pretending it's spring, at least it will be in there!
LOVE IT!! I'm so with you - I get so blue after Christmas is over....
I have to start thinking about my garden, too - get some spring in my step - but I don't want to rush the winter!!
LOVE the gray in H's room. So perfect!!
xoxo
Tracey....everything that you do is just beautiful...that is such an inspiration...I found a beautiful toolbox the other day and now I must go get it and put some of my fav's in it too:) Beautiful pics!

Stunning!!! just love it!
Looks beautiful! I have a couple of those and have even used one in my bathroom with rolled up white towels. I once bought one at a antique store and used it as part of a gift (putting gifts inside it) for a bridal shower.
We are SO on the same wavelength! I just spend my morning cutting and coloring with the little people. I Cut pictures of things I want in my garden. It was actually pretty fun, in that kindergarten sort of way! ;) Your Spring inspiration is completely gorgeous...just the reminder I needed as we continue to be buried in snow!
Oh me oh my... my heart is a pittering and a patterin... I love it. I just bought a tool caddy like this and BOY have you inspired me to get BIZZZZY :)I hope your day is beautiful.
Sheila
Ahhhh you inspire me daily,it's an honor that i inspired you with my tool boxes. I believe your's is much cuter than mine... the stencile has my heart fluttering!!
thanks for the name of the grey... i'm still on a mission to add grey in a room!!
xo,
LuLu
Tracey,
Everything is just so beautiful here...how do you do it?? I think you could have your own magazine!
I am on the grey kick too...I painted my daughter's room a pale gray too but it is not so elegant as yours.
I hope you stay warm...
xo,
annie

Hi Tracey,
Happy New Year. I miss my gardens too. I took pictures of them in the fall and will study them this winter for things I'd like to fix. In the meantime, I will drive my family crazy with house projects. Be well.
I am really missing my garden, its so brown and bare...love your garden inside!!!
Oh, I am late. There are a lot of comments before mine. I sat in front of my laptop and nearly could not believe that somebody has such a lot of beautiful things.
Where did you get all this nice objekts?
I am in love with your blog.
Nice to come here.
Pfiffigste

Julie M.
I SO love your tool box...such lovely goodies inside! :) I have an old toolbox in Emma's room holding blankets.
BTW, thanks so much for your sweet comments! :)
Smiles,
Rachel
Dear Tracey,
Your refurbished toolbox looks wonderful.
You certainly have that wonderful 'eye' and flair for design,
I always love everything that you post. Probably because I have such a passion for Jeanne d'Arc.
I wonder if you could help me.
I have bought 2 , what I would call, stencils from Jeanne d'Arc.
You probably know them. One is the French poem and the other is 'Petit dejeuner'
I am only really familiar with stencils and, although they came with instructions, I wonder if you could tell me how you 'do' them.
Many thanks. XXXX
Love your style darlin'
I'm looking forward to spring and the warm weather too. :)
that little paquet is adorable..
xo
Aren't they old tool boxes just wonderful and so versatile????
Love them and I adore what you have done with yours. Makes me long for spring and flowers.
Lovely post.
So pretty! I used to love snow but since we are currently getting pelted again I find I don't like it nearly as much as I did when I was younger...told Hubs I have enough "layers" without adding more to keep warm...ugh...better go get on my elliptical now instead of blogging! :)
Happy New Year!
~hugs~
your posts are a feast to my eyes!! :)
I Tracey, I love your toolbox vignette! And your pictures of it are gorgeous.
During the Winter I like to go over my garden plans and reread my notes i wrote during the Summer about what did well and what didn't or what needs to be moved first thing when the weather starts to warm. It gives me the time I need to plan oro an even better garden.
hugs
Tracey, you have such lovely things and beautiful pictures! I looked at your make over.. it' a fabulous shade of grey!!!
The toolbox vignette is stunning. I have a very cool old toolbox that is currently sitting in the basement. I think I will dig it out and create a vignette that will help me get through this very cold winter (mine will probably be filled with cookies, chips and hot chocolate!)
Thanks for the beautiful inspiration.
Jane
Loving the chippy paint and rusty garden spikes ~ what a great idea to do with your tool box. I am going to do one project a month if not more for the winter months at least. It is a long cold one here!
This is so beautiful! I literally got up and put together some cute little vignettes myself. Thanks for the great posts. :)
Lovely. Thanks for sharing!
Jill
Tracey, you should sell these photo prints of you vignettes! I would so...buy them. I swear I'm changing my dining room (coming along slowly) because of your gorgeous photos! thanks T.
Hugs Lisa
Well, Tracey, that is the nicest wooden toolbox I've ever seen! p.s. love how those bulbs came in individual burlap sacks/sacklets.
Hi Tracey,
Wow, I have several of those old things...will canvas the barn, shed, attic and basement....Love what you did with the stencils....Have just moved this project up to the top of my things to do for fun after work list! Thanks for all the wonderful inspiration you provide!
:) Laura
Girl you have such a knack. That is really an awesome display...love it:) Makes me wish for Spring though.
it's beautiful and such a lovely reminder of the spring during these long winter months! you're so talented!
I love this idea! It looks beautiful :)

Your tool box is gorgeous! It's really a great piece to decorate and I love what you have put in there. Those "Mint" and "Lavender" signs are to die for.

Sue
Very nice my crafty friend!!!
looks like your keeping yourself busy on these cold snowy days.
Looking forward to next week too
Janet
You are so talented...naturally gifted in styling. It is so fun to see your posts!!
Looking at the clock faces in the tool box reminded me that years ago I was in the home of a wonderful and interesting woman..a collector of antiques. And she had an entire wall covered with beautiful antique clock faces! It was spectacular.
Lovely work, Tracey, as usual.
Now while we don't USUALLY have long days of winter, we sure have been having them the past few weeks! Very cold in South Florida today!
Love this post! Would you tell me where you got your stencil from, I would like to get some
TIA, Blessings~Cheryl
Oh you are so talented Tracey, I have no words!!
Love these old patineted face of a watches. Hopefully I will get my hands on a beautiful specimen really soon.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Aina
Just beautiful and so full of the "promise of spring"!

Tracey - Everything you touch turns into a little bit of heaven....you have such a lovely gift! I have a toolbox that has been used for planting flowers in but I definately like your idea much better! I have been making headway on my magazines....but many more to go. Wishing you a week filled with sunshine and joy! Denise
Ms. Tracey- I have an award for you on my blog...cause you should see my bulb display. WOWSA. Thanks for the inspiration....
That's a wonderful idea. I just had my Burpees catalogue in my hands this weekend. I'm scared to look at Jeanne de'Arc as I know it will be trouble, but I love the tool box. My daughter was given a Smith and Hawkins Paperwhite bulb kit. With the weather being so cold, you can't help but dream of spring!
Nancy
Tracey...your pictures make me swoon!
Love love love your tool box.
p.s. reading your blog helps get me through the cold months here . . . many thanks!
Absolutely perfect!
Fantastic pictures and inspiration all over your wonderful blog! I´ll be back, no doubt!!
