I headed out on the open road very early Friday morning...5 am to be exact. I had a 3 hour drive ahead of me...
...and I was filled with a sense of freedom and anticipation...
At times, I took the scenic route. You won't find rolling hills or picturesque mountains here in the Midwest...but there's beauty to be found...if you just know how to see it...
I feel so blessed, these days more than ever it seems...because I am letting that part of me that longs to be creative finally come out...to see what might just happen if I truly let it loose...I am following my dreams.
It's an amazing thing when your passions are woven into your everyday life...
On Friday, I got to go on my very first paid photo assignment! I still can't believe someone would actually find my view through the lens worth paying for, but all I can say is I LOVED every...single...minute of it!!!
And when I finally sort through the hundreds of pictures I took, I will share with you some photos of the most delightful French Flea Market you could ever come across!
I found some amazing talent in the little town of Tipton, Indiana,
but I also found a real sense of myself...
***And, of course, I did not forget about drawing a winner for my giveaway***
The winner is Sarah from My Yellow House!!!
Congratulations Sarah!!! And a huge THANK YOU to everyone for participating...it was so much fun for me to read all of the comments...thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tracey

Hi there Tracey.. I'm supposed to be working on my English assignment right but I keep popping on to check my blogs. ;) First of all I want to tell you that I read your GORGEOUS article in Somerset yesterday while sipping iced latte with my husband at the book store.. it was simply incredible.. can not tell you how much I loved it! Congrats to you on that! It must feel so surreal to have all your creativity and passion come to life in so many rewarding ways. I know the feeling after working hard at the spa for 2 years.. it seemed to all hit me so fast and there is nothing better than doing a job that is just not "work" I think it is so important for us to stay true and motivated with our passions (Julia Child has a great quote about this), not only for our own personal gain but for what we can offer others. Your open road pictures are so pretty.. I know that feeling about looking to find the pretty so well and out here that lies in the nature of our heartland. Congrats as well on your photo assignment - squeal! It sounds exciting and that French Market looks dreeeeeeem-y.. I see lots of white and you have sparked my interest! Sorry to ramble, but I am so happy for you! And I am enjoying reading my JDA mag.. it's been my nightly before bed ritual. :) I am thinking about even framing the cover!
Love,
Lara

Gorgeous photos. I know what you mean about the midwest. There is lots of beauty but it is quieter and you have to be still and then you will find it and it will find you. Ontario is like that in lots of ways as well.
Tracey
I am commenting from my phone!!!

you're one busy lady these days ... I'm sending in my resume if you're hiring assistants ... wink wink
I especially like the picture with the mailbox. It reminds me of long ago when I would take that ride to the beach, from the city, in North Carolina. We would drive through all those "off-the-beatin'" track places... I can even feel the humidity...wonderful photograpy. *hugs*

How thrilling to be paid for taking pictures! It feels more like being paid to play, I would imagine.
I was so excited to see you mention Tipton in this post, because I live a few minutes north in Kokomo. I understand exactly what you mean about finding beauty in the Midwest--I love taking the scenic route. :)
Have a great day! And congratulations on being able to add "professional photographer" to your resume!
Yay! Can't wait to see your photos. Dream big.
Hi Tracey,
Sorry that I've been AWOL for a while. I'm back now and trying to catch up on my commenting !!
Your photographs of the mid-west are indeed beautiful. There certainly doesn't have to be mountains and rolling hills to find beauty. I wish you well on your first paid assignment and I can't wait to see your French flea market photographs. XXXX
I want to be on that road...beautiful.
Happy Summer;)
Deb @ Garden Party
Hi Tracey,
What a wonderful little story...and a great way to start my day at 6:30 AM! Thanks for sharing and kudos to you for landing your first photography job. But of course, you would. Your work is just lovely.
Now I am off to check out the French Flea Market.
Ciao bella,
Suzanne
Dear Tracey,
Well, I don't do this with everyone. Just a few of you. I'm going along really enjoying a blog and then, I wonder if you know about it! Do you know "Le Ciel Flamand"? I think that her main language is Dutch. She writes in Dutch, French and English. Her home and her photos are stunning! STUNNING! She has a lovely old world sense - not copied - in her bones. Well, I'm inspired. =] if you're interested......
Love, Katy
