Well, 8 weeks after installing the hardwood floor and painting it, I am finally showing you pictures of my son's room! We waited quite awhile to put his furniture back in the room because it is very heavy and we wanted to be certain the floor was dry...but, basically, I just had a hard time with the finishing touches in here...boy's rooms are not my specialty! :)
I'm still working on some of the finishing details, but most of the room is in place. I was going for a European look, but still trying to keep Braden's tastes in mind...and he loves to draw and color. So I gave up my petite farm table from my studio and created a little desk area for him...
The chalkboard is a garage sale picture that I just painted right over with some chalkboard paint. The picture was already on a piece of wood so it was super easy to convert it and dirt cheap!
I found the old galvanized farm caddy at the flea market a few months ago and decided, once it was cleaned and sealed, that it would make a perfect storage unit for Braden's room...
He loves his new little area!
Above his dresser, I put up some twine to hang a few of his pictures...we change it out all the time and it was a great way to add some color to the room...
A basket of his favorite books is at the foot of the bed. The dresser and bed match one of the dressers in my room and are family heirlooms on my husband's side...my hubby slept in this bed when he was a little boy as well :)
I love the contrast of the dark furniture against the white floor! I used simple, sheer white curtains to keep everything light and airy in here.
I also used one of the Vantorre Curtains from my shop as a coverlet on the bed for some extra interest...I just cut the ties off of the top. Oh, and I stole Maria's fabulous idea of using a grain sack runner at the foot of the bed for layering on some additional color to the bed.
Grain sack pillow from Dreamy Whites
Sheer white curtains, muslin bedspread, and small bear with heart from Ikea
I'm off to Junk Bonanza early Friday morning, so I hope to be back next week with some pictures to share!
Enjoy the rest of your week!!
Tracey

Do you care if I print a pic of the tool caddy pic and frame it near the tool caddies for sale in my shop?

What a great room. I love that you used the bed your husband slept in as a boy. The desk area is wonderful and the bedspread looks so good!
You did it...you pulled off designing a room that is both so chic and boyish at the same time!
Stunning!
And you gave me an idea for using that beautiful runner I purchased from you, too. To the bed it will go! :-)

I love your sons room!! It looks great. I love the bed linens, and pillows....Kathy
The bed is to die for! I love it! I agree, boys rooms present the most challenges. But you certainly overcame them. Well done!
Braden's room is fantastic. If only it could stay that way. If it were my boys', it would last less than 5 minutes and then look like a tornado hit it.
love all the little details!! adorable-- love the wire book basket, the tool box/art kit and the furniture-- ahhh... :)
I think it looks great! Boy's rooms aren't my specialty either and am still working on my 12 yrs old's. I have been on the look out for a little farm table too but still haven't found one. I think you did an excellent job and I love how you did up the bed! take care, Maryann
Your son's room turned out just wonderful! Very beautiful in a masculine, small boy way. I love it. Some great ideas in there.

Oh Tracey! Your son's room came out beautiful! I totally struggled with mine. Its was so for hard to decorate a little boys room. Give me a girls room and I'll go crazy...lol..you did a great job! Love the floors. Thanks for all the inspiration! Lulu
How lucky Braden is to have such a talented mommy! The room has his boy things but still has great style.

OMG, what a beautiful room. I esp. love the bed and dresser. Seeing the blocks brought back memories of my boys as I had wooden blocks for them with their initials. I'm hanging onto them until they get married.
Love the dark wood furniture for his room. The bedding is wonderful... you always blow me away with your rooms... just gorgeous. Have fun can't wait to see what you come home with,

Wow Tracey! Love love love. Your rooms/home is/are so beautiful!
That room is gorgeous without being sissified. One day he will appreciate all the thought into giving him a room designed with love.
Debbie
P.S. Love the chalkboard idea. You can bet that is one I'll be stealing, I mean borrowing in the very near future.
Braden is a blessed little boy to have such a unique room, sleep in the bed his daddy did, and have a mom who can decorate to the hilt! I LOVE the white and dark furniture.
Super looking room.
Love the caddy and the basket.
Melinda
What a lucky boy...the room looks great! I love his little drawing area :)

Dear Tracey,
The room is so beautiful. Your son probably feels well. I love every detail, especially the old child-books!
We are also in the process of renovating the room from my little daughter!
Big Hugs, Yvonne
Hi Tracey,
What a very lucky boy Braden is having such a wonderful bedroom.
That is so lovely that he is now using the bed, his Daddy used as a boy.
That is a cute idea having the paintings hanging on the twine.
thanks for showing us.
Enjoy your weekend and Junk Bonanza
Hugs
Carolyn
Your pictures are amazing, I totally love them! The boys room is perfect! I wish you the best! Siren :)
Hello my dear friend, so glad I am that you like the book. We sell a lot and we are so happy as we jump high hihi.
I would like to be the boy in your house, how happy your boy may be having such a good mother who does so nicely.
I enjoy your photos.
Many warm hugs / Ingela
It looks wonderful! Have fun at Junk Bonanza:)
Amazing....it's great! Love the look of the white floor with the dark furniture.
Oh Tracey~ I just LOVE what you've done with his room!! :) You are so right-- the white floor with the darker furniture is the best contrast! And I am going to have to take inspiration from you & make Rivvy a wall chalkboard-- he is a little artist, too. That is an incredible photo of the chippy blue frame. Loving the little Ikea tidbits here & there. Been thinking about sweetly begging my husb to take me to Ikea this weekend.. got a major Ikea scratch to itch. ;) Have a wonderful, funfilled trip to Junk Bonanza!
Hugs :) Lara
And I bet he loves it! What a super idea for his pencils and crayons! It's an intriguing room, inviting without being feminine.
(What's going to happen to that painted floor when he moves stuff around? I only ask because I have hardwood floors..not painted..and anytime one of my sons visits, there are black streaks all over it. I know, I know, I am being too practical!)
Girls are SO much easier to decorate for aren't they, Tracey??
Oh My!!! Soooo much inspiration.... You did a wonderful job! Thanks for sharing...

Hi, Tracey! I'm still here but haven't been commenting. I'm just trying to survive the adjustment to the back to school routine! Also, it's very selfish but I've just been coming and enjoying post and,.....and,......well,...and not commenting. It's so lovely to let YOU have the last word and to let your lovely images just linger but, then, you can't see my reaction - how much I love - enjoy so much - coming and reading and seeing. So, this time, I wanted to stop and say what is redundant. It's just absolutely wonderful!!!
Particularly - as if I wasn't in heaven through the whole post - when I got to the photo of the block - it went straight to the middle of my heart!
Love to you and happy September!
Love, Katy Noelle
Tracey as the mother of 5 boys, it's wonderful to see a gorgeous room like this. There's so much pink gorgeousness out there, but it seems creating something for the little boys in our lives is more of a challenge. Bravo, the end result is spectacular, & I bet Braden is thrilled with his new room.
Millie ^_^
Tracey this is really sweet. Just perfect in every way.
hugs
It looks just gorgeous Tracey.....I'd love to sleep there !!!! I am sure that Braden loves it.
I think that I must see if Maria has some more pillows left !!.... and, I think another look in your shop is in order !!
Have fun at Junk Bonanza. XXXX

Very nice blog, your rooms is really fantastic and full of fun, I have been on the look out for a little farm table too but still haven't found one. I think you did an excellent job and I love how you did up the bed! All about your room is just perfect.
You did an amazing job on your son's room! I love the pale blue walls with the white flooring - it looks like a very soothing space.
I love your blog! Your photography is awesome (something I would like to learn).
I am your newest follower :)
The matching bed and dresser are absolutely beautiful, and it's nice to see family heirlooms being used and loved again and again. Wonderful inspiration for a boys room that seems very calm and serene.
What a great room! I especially love the old tool box...sooo cool. Stacey
Where do you hide all the toys? Have a play room? ;-)
Tracey,
Hello and thank you for your inspiring blog. It's fabulous and I appreciate you sharing your ideas. I would love to win the french fabric. OOh la la. I would make cushions for my vintage metal chairs. I'm just beginning to redo my old-old house with French inspired theme so the fabric would be a big boost to get started. Thank you for the chance.
