I'm wondering if anyone is going to Junk Bonanza??? I am going with a few friends and am really excited about it! I love a good flea market!! :) I brought up Junk Bonanza because this post reminded me of it...probably because Ki Nassauer is the queen of reusing/repurposing everyday items {often junk} as new ones.
I love to use items in unexpected ways when I am entertaining or decorating...it just keeps things interesting, but I can't always run out and buy something new {gotta stick to the budget after all}. So I am always tucking away ideas in the back of my mind that I find in magazines and books, for use at a later time.
Recently I had to throw together an impromptu wine and cheese party for a few friends. I took a few quick photos of some of the "reuse/repurpose" types of items that I had out in this corner of the room. Old wine corks make a fabulous little place card holder. You can use them to mark what types of hors d'oeuvres you are serving as well. All I did was take a knife and cut a slit in the top of the cork. I have used these before for a French themed dinner party and used only corks from French wines to hold each name card {I know, I'm obsessed with all things French :)}.
I created a cake stand from an old, unused candlestick that I had and one of the many ironstone dishes from my collection. Super easy!
And this old, metal tray that I bought at the flea market earlier in the year made for a great wine server. I had previously scrubbed and sealed the tray, but added a vintage tea towel to the inside for the sake of the glasses.
This vintage bank deposit bag found a new life as a wine bag {thank you for the idea Jen!}. I added it to the table for a fun element. I am now carrying these in the SHOP!
I hope you all enjoy a wonderful Labor Day weekend! Yeah for long weekends!! :))))

Great ideas ~ with lovely photos! Hope you have a wonderful weekend, one that doesn't go by too fast!
Everything looks beautiful. I love wine corks. They are little works of art!
Super ideas...I never toss a wine cork! hugs♥olive
I so love everything you do. Let me tell you that France doesn't do this half as well as you do.
You also give me so much inspiration to make my everyday so much more, why should everyday not be this pretty.
Keep up the gorgeous work.

yes, I'll have a glass of red!
What great ideas, it all looks beautiful, but your settings always look like the queen is coming to tea.
That is how amazing in detail they are. Your friends and family are very lucky to have you as the hostess.
I just have to give you props for thanking the original designer for the idea, it seems that so many are not as polite as you these days.
Take care and have fun at the Junk Bonanza!
Amy
This table is just beautiful. Love the chalkboard and bank bag especially. May have to get one of those. Your ideas are so inspirational.

While I won't be attending the Junk Bonanza (although I know several who are), it's one I would love to go to at least.
Once again your ideas inspire me. Nobody dresses a table like you lady!
Debbie
I loved everything you did!! I wish I was invited!! :)
you have so much talent my friend!
love what you put together!
i just grabbed a burlap sack that holds my olive oil ( from potterybarn) but yours is much cuter. of course!
Love the idea for the cakestand, but did you glue it together?
You have great ideas and inspiration.
So pretty, Tracey! Photos beautiful as always, you've got me wanting to pick up some Roquefort cheese to go with the champagne grapes we've got at the house. Is that a Folie à Deux cork I see there? Fantastic wine! Happy long weekend. Ooh, have a wonderful time at your flea market event, we're hitting Antiques by the Bay here too!

Oh my! A junk bonanza. How divine!
You have created a beautiful party setting.
Hello dear Tracey, I can always count on you to fill up my need for inspiration. Your "impromptu" setting is just wonderful. Glad you've settled into the routine with your kiddos, I remember it well!
xo,
Debra
I always save my corks, they get tossed up above the cupboard into an antique coke crate. I'm terrified to bring it down...my fears are based on accountability of consumption! I like your ideas, thank you for sharing!
This table has a French Industrial feel to it! I think its great, I especially love the metal drawer or tray you used for holding the barware. Great idea!
Love your photoes and great ideas
AMAZING! And such lovely photographs. I will never throw away another wine cork (and of course a great excuse to buy a lot more French wine!) xx
Tracey....such great ideas! I love the bank bag thing! I have a cool vintage corn dryer that I use for a tray...it is great to repurpose. Have a great holiday weekend,
annie
I love that cork idea...I have about a thousand I have been saving for a special project...just didn't know what yet...that's great for a dinner party.
I just love your white framed chalkboard! I am so with you on your thoughts about collecting bits & bobs for inspiration! I have just started collecting.. well, hoarding little vintage things to repurpose for future ideas. :) I think those are just about the cutest corks I've ever seen. Enjoy the weekend dear Tracey!
Hugs, Lara
Great ideas & beautifully photographed!
Junk Bonanza, why YES! I'll be selling there and would so love to meet you. Please stop by if you have a moment!

I find that I'm most creative when I'm working on a tight budget or timeline. I can't make a decision if you drop me off in a party shop with unlimited time and funds...but give me an hour with a box of junk and I'll surprise you!
What a beautiful vignette, Tracie! I love how you tied the wine corks into your decor for your wine-tasting get-together... perfect. Sounds like a fun time with friends!
Enjoy the long weekend!

You know....I've just gotta stop walking BY those treasures at the flea markets I go to. I see them, stare at them, think "what could I use it for?", and walk on. NOW I'll be grabbing them up in my arms knowing that I can get inspiration from you, dear Tracey! lol! Thanks, friend!

ANETTE:)
The pictures are wonderful and really get my creative spirit going. I liked the wine cork. I use those as well for my wine tasting parties. I glue two corks together and make a holder for the descriptions and ratings. It really adds just a touch to the table.. Thanks again for the inspiration
It’s always fun to recycle! We just have to be creative enough to make something out of nothing. If only many will consider recycling, I’m sure there will be a gradual decrease in waste. Let’s use our imagination and create wonderful and unique crafts!
