london...

Hello!  I'm finally ready to show you some pictures from my trip!  I seem to have had a hard time catching up on everything since being gone on back to back trips, so here I am a week after I've arrived back home from London, and finally showing you some of this incredible city.

Since I'm so behind on my posts, I'm just going to narrow it down and cram it all into one post.

The buildings were definitely a fascination for me...I just can't get enough of the old architecture in Europe...I LOVE it and would often stop right in the middle of walking down a street and suddenly look up and take a quick shot. My husband said that was rude to the people walking behind me, so I took to walking close to the curb so as not to be in everyone's way so much. The streets were rather narrow so getting the entire building in was not always possible, but I didn't care, it was all so beautiful to me and I cherish every minute spent walking the city {even though it was chilly, cloudy, and often rainy :)}.

Here are a few of my favorite "architecture" pictures...

I loved all of the colorful buildings...

{Portobello Road}

My favorite area to photograph was the area where Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament, and "Big Ben" could all be found.

I am passionate about photography and I just find photographing old architecture to be an absolute joy, fortunately my husband was just as happy to be out and about in the city taking it all in...

I also loved how there were crowns everywhere on just about anything...

In all of this sightseeing, we did stop and refuel with a cappuccino and pastry from time to time {I know you're supposed to drink tea in England, but I'm really more of a coffee girl and couldn't pass up the delicious cappuccinos}...

I had a chance to pop into Cabbages and Roses for a quick peek...isn't it just adorable from the outside??!   It was much smaller than I had expected, but such a delight!  They had just received a new shipment in and were trying to get it out, so I didn't want to be in the way and did not take pictures inside the store.

I also took a number of sepia toned pictures in Paddington Station...I think the old train stations are so lovely...and have an almost romantic feel to them...

I like this picture below because when I got home I realized that there was a young couple kissing in it, very sweet...

I made a joke of making my husband pose next to all of the old telephone booths, whenever we came across one...this was in Reigate, on the day we ventured out of London and took a train ride out to Surrey...

It would have been nice to hop in one of these and hit the countryside, but I don't think I could ever get used to driving on the opposite side of the road...on the other side of the car!!

I'm afraid there are no good pictures of me in London, but my husband said that I was not allowed to put a picture of him up if I did not also put one of myself up...so here is my "trying to look like an Anthropologie model" look - HA!  I know, not a very good try...I can laugh at myself though, it's okay :)))

We did go to the Portobello Road Market since we stayed in Notting Hill and it was so close, but the vendors did not want me taking pictures and I only bought a few things, so there is not much to show regarding flea markets, sorry!

However, I will be snapping some pictures on Friday at the Na-Da Farm Barn Sale to share with all of you!  Hope to see some of you there!

Oh, I almost forgot, the winner of a copy of the Italian magazine, Gli Speciali di Casa Chic, is Tracie from My Petite Maison!

Cheers!

:) Tracey

Your pictures are lovely and make me long for a trip back across the pond. It's been a couple of years since I had the chance to wander around London! I did drive the last time I was there though...which I swore I'd never do!

I love the photo with the couple kissing, and the photos of both you and your husband are model worthy!

Such splendid pictures!

I just adore Portobello Markets. I have a few great finds from there :-)

I feel the same about the old architecture. Australia is so new. When I go to Europe and the UK I just soak in all that history and imagine what it must have been like living there in perhaps the 1500's or the 1700's...

Hi Tracy, I Love London and I also love old architecture... a new house can never have the charme of an old house. Maybe is not so comfortable, but sooo gorgeous....
C&R is great, isn't it? I have brought some of the beautiful fabrics and made a few cushions of it, they look so pretty... and of course your Fotoshooting is like for an Magazine...

I too love to take photos at opportunities that present themselves. The architecture was incredible that you captured. I remember three years ago we were in Germany, I had some incredible opportunities for photos at the castles and churches. I too did take some photos at the flea market, but soon learned they don't like that at all. Interesting huh? Florence

Such brilliant photos of my home city, they have made me appreciate it some more!! I am so glad you had such a great time, I fretted about the weather for you that weekend! Taking photos in crowded streets with lots of (ugly) traffic around is so hard - you did a fabulous job. And what a glam pair you two are!x

What lovely pictures! You have captured London well! I live only an hour away, and when you see it so regularly you tend to forget the charm (and the hustle and bustle...). Great pics of you and hubby!

enjoy the day!

Hi Tracey,
I absolutely LOVE your pictures of London....they really show it beautifully. I was told once that whenever you go anywhere, always look UP, which is exactly what you do !!!! I am always bumping into people because I'm looking up ! haha
I'm so pleased that you enjoyed your trip to London, I'm just sorry that the weather wasn't so good.....we are now having some warm and sunny weather ! Typical. Still it looks as if it didn't rain everyday as your photographs don't look too wet....... and, as I know that you love flea and antique markets, London isn't the best place for them. You have to travel out of the city to find the best ones.
Enjoy your weekend, Tracey. XXXX
