Making Textures

Hi!  It has been a busy week for me, but I managed to find some time to play in Photoshop a bit :)  I have been making my own textures and having a blast doing it!

The other day it dawned on me that maybe I could photograph some of my own vintage maps and French papers and use them as textures...I have so many beautiful ones and I recently bought even more lovely French letters from Jeanne's amazing shop.

I didn't do anything special... just photographed some of my favorites and then applied those jpegs as a texture in Photoshop.  If you want to learn about all things textures, head on over to the fabulous Kim Klassen Cafe, but over here at casa de nontechnical, I took the easy route for making a texture!

The first two photos above are from when I took Halena and Braden into the woods for some pictures, just like I had done previously with Caighton.

These three photos are from my Paris trip in April.  I wanted to try adding the textures to all sorts of different types of pictures...

2 slightly different versions of the Louvre...

I have to admit it was a lot of fun using my own textures!!  I had to dial down the opacity quite a bit and I sometimes used a Florabella texture in conjunction with mine, to add a bit of color, but all-in-all it was pretty easy!

Hope you all have an amazing weekend!  I'm off to Tipton, Indiana tomorrow for Horton's wonderful Christmas Open House...hope to see some of you there :))

Tracey

p.s.  if you head on over to The Adventures of Stig and Lolo for Lolo's generous giveaway, you could win one of the Fatigued Canvas Tote bags from my shop!!!

Hi Tracey,
I have been doing textures that easy way for a while with vintage letters, etc. I called it layering because I don't have photoshop and am such a novice and amateur photographer....it is really easy in Picasa and so much fun to play around! Your photos are stunning and of course your skills are way more advanced. Some day, maybe I will attempt the big girl camera and photoshop too! :)

Love these textures...and you are too funny...saying that you are not a techy...cause you can use photoshop and that is leagues ahead of me...lol I can do this in publisher...but not to the detail that you all can do in photoshop. I just don't want to take that on with everything that I've got on my plate...so I'll just admire your work. Have a great day, fondly, Roberta
