Natural Christmas Touches

Hi!  I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend...we received our first snowfall of the season!  It always feels more festive with the snow!

Today I wanted to share with you the Christmas touches I added to my dining room.  This year, more than ever, I seem to be wanting to keep things very simple...and natural for my Christmas decor.  Lots of fresh greenery and acorns {always a favorite of mine}...plus, in this room I also used eucalyptus pods and juniper...

I moved all of my mercury glass candlesticks to the table so that I could put fresh garland on the mantle...I debated about embellishing the mantle further, but decided that just the lights and natural touches were enough...

I alternately hung lime pomanders that I made and acorns on the backs of the chairs...I would have done all lime pomanders as they smell incredible, but my fingers started to hurt making them :)

Adding a few fresh pomegranate seeds to your cocktails is a great way to make them more festive!

Enjoy your week!

And, a very heartfelt thank you to everyone who left me a kind comment about Halena's room...you girls really know how to make a person feel good...thank you!!!

Tracey

Tracey, this is so peaceful and serene. I love your home and all the touches are just perfect. I made pomanders one year with the Grandkids and I used a skewer or a toothpick would work to pre-hole before I put the cloves in and it worked really well and it went really fast!!! I like the idea of the limes. I have some to put in a bowl and I am going to borrow your idea of the lime pomanders, very pretty, thankyou and Merry, merry Christmas,

Thanks for giving us such a simple inspiration! Less is more in my book at this time of year, when we are bombarded with so many new (and usually great) ideas! I am striving to use what I have, and adding a lot of nature's bounty here and there for the natural look too. Hope to get most of it up today so I can sit back and relax! Stop by in a little while!

I can smell those evergreens just wafting off the computer screen here ;) Makes me wanna go for a walk in the woods real bad.. dig out the snowshoes and get my own greenery. Though I must confess I could not compete with that!

Take care! and Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to all!

Lovely! I have a pomegranate in the bowl in our kitchen as we speak, and we've been putting seeds in drinks, too. I cannot tell a lie--I initially bought it just so I could paint it--they're such a beautiful fruit, aren't they!? We also have so many pine trees near us that we get tons of pine cones and we, too, use them as natural decorations.

The snow must make things like a winter wonderland--beautiful!

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, they say. Well! Now, I can't wait to serve some champagne with pomegranate seeds in cut glasses!!! =]

I've come to the same conclusion about simplicity, too (hopefully, on the natural side). Usually, I just get out the extra Christmas decorations and juggle everything around to make it all fit. This year, I've decided to start from scratch. I'm going to put all of my knick knacks on the dining room table. Put only the absolutely inspire ones back out and STOP! I have a new hutch that the rest can go back into. Why did it take me so long to catch on to this simplicity thing?

Merry, merrymaking to you!
