Brugge Part One

Hello!  I'm back!  It took me a few days to get back in the swing of things {and to sort thru the hundreds of pics I took}, but I am so anxious to share my trip with all of you!!

I've decided to start with the photos of Brugge, Belgium, as it was such an amazing city and one of the highlights of our trip!

The beautiful, beautiful city of Brugge is like experiencing time travel...this old town still has all cobblestone streets and it's buildings are unravaged and intact.  I was truly in awe at every turn down the many, many streets we explored...I could not snap photos fast enough :)

Here is the view out our hotel window...it was overlooking the public square called The Burg ~

The weather was mild, but very pleasant while we were there and the sky was overcast the whole time, which actually made for great picture taking!

I LOVED the fact that as soon as you ventured away from the main areas in Brugge, the streets were quiet and uncrowded.  It is so nice to take a picture with no people and no cars in it.  It really was such a peaceful city to be in.

Here is a sampling of the character-rich, gorgeous city of Brugge...

Brugge is only a 2 hour and 20 minute train ride from Paris, so it is an easy add-on if your are planning a trip to Paris.  I highly recommend this beautiful city!!

My SHOP has been closed while I was away and for this week while I photograph and load all of the flea market finds I brought back from Belgium and Paris, but it will reopen on Monday morning with all of my new items listed!!

Fabulous pix! I just adore Brugge – my hubby and I stayed in the most wonderful B&B and had an amazing time there, soaking in the atmosphere, hitting some hidden-away pubs and browsing the antique shops and market! Looks like you had an amazing time there as well :)

Hi Tracey,
I believe that Belgium and especially the city of Brugge, remain timeless. I lived in Belgium for a year and a half, several years ago and it still looks the same. I love the photos that you shared. I'm sure you picked up some of their pretty laces and ribbons.

hugs

What a beautiful place! How wonderful to have been there and seen all this in person! Have you ever seen the movie "In Brugge" with Colin Ferrell? It's a gorgeous movie showcasing the town and it's very very good. I cannot recommend it highly enough. You should rent it if you have not seen it.

Wow, Tracey - and welcome home! Your photos are so beautiful they should be in a coffee table book or something! What an amazing city. I can't believe that there weren't any people around! My kind of city for sure. lol! I could tell that you were fascinated by the patinas and textures surrounding you. Just stunning! I can hardly wait to see more photos. Believe it or not, I'm one of those weird people who adore looking at other people's vacation photos. lol!

welcome home! thank you for sharing the photos of Brugge. I traveled there in college and absolutely loved the city. We ate dinner in the most beautiful restaurant that had to have been in a building as old as the hills...i remember it was almost cave-like the way they had placed tables in stone corners...and violinists played softly while we dined. gotta love memories like those :)

Gorgeous photos of a city that time forgot. I think it became quiet after the collapse of the lace industry and just managed to slumber on, like Sleeping Beauty. I was there once, many years ago, and would love to return, especially after seeing these photos. Beautiful!

Hello Tracey, what a lovely surprise to find out that you have been to Brugge. My family and I went a couple of years ago, but it was in between Christmas and New Year, it was bitterly cold and mega busy. We loved it, and thought we would like to go back in the summer. I can't believe how quiet the streets are in your beautiful photos.
You make me really want to return, thank you for sharing with us. Love Linda x
