A little Spring Magic

I hope everyone has been experiencing the incredible Spring weather that we have been having here in the Midwest.  I told my children that they will be talking about this March for the rest of their lives, as it is the warmest, nicest March we have ever had!!  And I have been loving it.

It has inspired me to bring a little of that outdoor magic into our family room...

I loved how my friend Jen used vintage botanical prints recently while shooting her new Spring line.  I bought these prints last Summer at the flea market and Jen inspired me to pull them out and use them to help create some Spring magic.

I also cut some flowering Pear branches from my yard.  I still can't believe that so much is in bloom's crazy to have blooms on this tree in March!

I had to strategically photograph this room because I recently had an electrician put recessed lighting in and one of the walls and the ceiling had to be torn up to do that.  We got the holes patched up, but my husband had to leave for Hong Kong on business before we could get those areas repainted.

This room is still a bit of a work in progress, but I love having the burst of Spring happiness in here right now :)

My mom had the great idea to hang the window that used to be propped up in the corner of the room horizontally on the wall above the daybed.  I am really liking it like this.  Thank you mom for all of your help in arranging this room!

My sister found the vintage wedding veil at the thrift store and I just thought it looked pretty hanging on the window...

For the top of the entertainment center, I filled some of my vintage Ball jars with pear blossoms, added some mini clay pots, and brought out a few of my vintage cloches, and spring-inspired items...

This gorgeous weather has my little Caighton confused...she thinks it is Summer already and has been walking around the house in her bathing suit, wearing her goggles, and begging to go to the pool :))

Wishing you a happy, sun-filled week!!

Cote Bastide and Flea Market Finds

Good morning my friends!

I have been busy adding new items to my SHOP!

First are some beautiful new items from the French company Cote Bastide, located in the south of France.  Cote Bastide makes the most wonderful textiles using only the finest French linen.  I am now carrying a number of their tea towels, as well as, the gorgeous French Linen Market Bag.  All items are imported from Aix en Provence...

This next tea towel says "natural linen" in three different languages...French, English and Italian...and I love it's extra large size...

With the onset of flea market season, I have also been adding new items to my Flea Market Finds section, here are a few recent additions...

The vintage table runner below was such a great find because it is a nice long length...10ft...which is so hard to find for those of you who have larger dining room tables!

Please check out the Flea Market Finds section for more new items.  I finally got around to photographing and loading some items that I had actually purchased last fall at the flea market...needless to say, I was a little behind :)

I will continue to add new items, so please check back in the SHOP often.

Have a great day ~

Get the look

I wanted to share some of the pictures I took of my little Caighton over the weekend.  My friend Jeanne makes the most amazing clothes for her shop, Jeanne Oliver Designs, and recently, she started a feature on her blog on Mondays called, Get the Look.

Get the Look features different women wearing the clothes from her latest collection.  I participated in last week's Get the Look post and this week Caighton is featured wearing the adorable Lila Peasant Dress from the "Little Jeanne" line.  I LOVE this dress on Caighton...

What can I girl is just a little bit sassy :))  She is obsessed with the idea of riding a horse some day and wears the thrift store cowgirl boots my sister found for her constantly..."horsey" the purse is also a favorite companion!

You can visit Jeanne's beautiful shop here...

...and you can view Jeanne's Get the Look series on her blog *HERE*

I have also been taking some pictures of my niece, Sophie, as she is 10 months old now.  So I just wanted to share a quick pic of her precious self too...

The weather has been glorious the last few days and looks to continue that way all week!  I am giddy with excitement to get out in my garden this week and enjoy the rare, warm March weather!!

Have a beautiful day ~

My Home in Jeanne d' Arc

Happy Friday!!

I thought I would share some photos from the upcoming April issue of Jeanne d' Arc Living magazine with you this morning.  This issue is all about Spring!  Take a peek...

Did you recognize one of the photos??!  Yep, it's my studio.  I am so honored to be in the next issue of Jeanne d' Arc Living magazine!!  I have loved this beautiful magazine from the very start and it is such a thrill to think my little ol' home will be in it.  The photos of my home are from the photo shoot last May when Fifi and Mark were here.  If you would like to order a copy of the Spring issue, you can do so *HERE*

Oh, and the best part is that Jeanne d' Arc is now making it possible for us retailers to offer a lower price on the magazine!  And don't forget, starting with this April issue, JDL will be available every month!

Spring inspiration from Becky at Buckets of Burlap

Good morning!   I wanted to share the lovely talents of Becky from Buckets of Burlap with you today!  Becky has put together some wonderful spring inspiration that I know we are all in need of as we come to the end of the long winter months.

Becky takes gorgeous pictures and has lovingly and beautifully decorated her home.  If you have not had the chance to read her blog, Bucket of Burlap, I highly recommend it!!  I love your style Becky and am so thrilled to feature you here on my blog!

Here is a special guest post from Becky...

Hello everyone!
I'm Becky, from the blog Buckets of Burlap,  and I'm honored to be guest posting here at the fabulous French Larkspur with Tracey!
Are you ready for SPRING?  Here in Louisiana, Spring is showing up all around us.
I wanted to share some photos of a relaxing way to spend a warm spring afternoon.

My youngest daughter did a little "modeling" for me.  We used store-bought bouquets and several vintage items to create a Spring Tea Picnic.
An old aluminum tea kettle holds the flowers.
And a silver tray is lined with many varieties of tea cups.

We layered a jute rug atop a white IKEA throw to rest upon.  The little white chippy tray holds fresh raspberries.  It's a lovely spot in our meadow to relax and read a book among the wildflowers.

My little one is wearing a dress I wore in my Aunt's wedding when I was 10 years old.
I love saving special heirlooms for my kids to enjoy.

It's also the perfect time of year to get out to the local flea markets or antique malls in search of amazing treasures.  What will you be on the lookout for this Spring?
  Has Spring arrived where you are?
Maybe soon you could find a special spot outdoors to enjoy a good book :)
I sure hope so.

Thanks, Tracey for allowing me to share a little of our Southern world with your readers.
Have a wonderful day!

Cafe au lait and Dreaming of France

{from our April 2010 Paris trip}

What has been your secret for getting thru the long winter??

Mine has been dreaming, planning, and making our travel plans for the upcoming year!  I jokingly say that sipping  a cafe au lait and making our travel plans for the year has become a favorite pass time for my husband and I!  It's what keeps me going when it's gloomy and cold and I am stuck in the house for endless winter days.

My first stop is actually coming up in a little over a best friend, Natasha, and I are going for a long "girl's weekend" to Savannah!

{Springtime in Savannah via *here*}

I would love any tips or suggestions for where to go while in Savannah, as it will be both Natasha and my first trip there!  We are staying right in the Historic District and hope to visit many of the cute vintage shops in that area.  Do any of you have a favorite??

Then in May, Steve and I are headed back to our beloved Paris!!

I can't wait to wander the streets of Paris again...

{from our October 2011 Paris trip} soak in the beautiful architecture, sit at the cafes, and, of course, shop at the flea markets {oh how I love the French flea markets!}...

However, this time we will be heading to Belgium beforehand and then taking the train down to Paris.  This will be our first trip to Belgium, so we will be staying in both Brussels and Brugge.  Brussels is supposed to have amazing flea markets, so I am very excited to go there :))

And, Brugge is known as the Venice of the North and one of the most beautiful cities in Europe...

{Brugge via *here*}

{via Daily Travel Photos which has amazingly beautiful photos from all over the world}

We also have a second trip to Europe planned for September.  Everything books up so quickly, so we have all plans for that trip booked already as well.

First stop will be Turin, Italy...

{Turin via *here*}

Turin was Italy's first capital and is a major city in Italy, so it will give us a good feel for Italian city life and culture.  It also hosts one of the Top 10 European Flea Markets!  I found a lovely blog post about Turin {Torino in Italian} *HERE* . There is so much of Italy I want to see, but we felt like this would be a good start for us.

Plus, Turin is just a hop, skip, and a jump from the beautiful Piedmont Wine Country, which we definitely plan to spend time in...

{Piedmont wine country via *here*}

After Turin, we will take the train into France and stay for 5 days in Provence!!

After much research, we have booked our stay in this lovely vintage stone farmhouse just outside of Arles, France...Mas Du Petit Grava...

We will be renting a car for our stay in Provence so that we can explore as much of the countryside as possible and hit all of the incredible flea markets that this area is known for, including, Arles, Avignon, and Isle sur la Sorgue.

Then we will be heading up to Paris so that I can meet up with my good friend Jeanne!  While our husbands head home, Jeanne and I will head into the French countryside near Evreux to stay in Sharon's charming guest cottage.  Sharon writes the wonderful blog My French Country Home!

Here are some pictures of her lovely guest cottage...

You can view many more gorgeous photos and find out more about Sharon's home, garden, and guest cottage *HERE*

Sharon will be our personal tour guide for two of the days Jeanne and I will be in the French countryside, taking us to all of her favorite brocante stops!   Can't wait to meet you Sharon!!

Phew!  I think that's it!!  So now you know what has kept me busy this winter and gotten me thru the long months of January and February.  If you detected a theme, that is because flea marketing is definitely at the heart of our travels.  My husband and I have fallen in love with France and the old architecture of Europe, so we plan to keep going back again and again...and along the way, I am building and shaping new plans for my business.  I hope to continue to bring back wonderful finds to share with all of you in my shop.  It is a great joy for me to share with all of you my love for all things vintage!

Have a great day and thank you so much for stopping by!

p.s.  *this* stainless steel stove top espresso maker and *this* milk frother make the best cafe au lait right at home...
